{"id":2161,"date":"2016-05-27T23:06:23","date_gmt":"2016-05-27T15:06:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.orientday.com\/?p=2161"},"modified":"2016-05-27T23:06:23","modified_gmt":"2016-05-27T15:06:23","slug":"hr-english-what-makes-a-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.jobsapk.com\/zh\/chinajobbox\/hr-english-what-makes-a-leader\/2161\/","title":{"rendered":"HR English: What Makes a Leader?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What Makes a Leader?<\/p>\n<p>Every businessperson knows a story about a highly intelligent, highly skilled executive who was promoted into a leadership position <strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">only to fail at the job.<\/span> <\/strong>And they also know a story about someone with solid\u2014but not extraordinary\u2014intellectual abilities and technical skills who was promoted into a similar position and then <span style=\"color: #339966\">soared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have found, however, that the most effective leaders are alike in one crucial way:<\/p>\n<p>They all have a high degree of what has come to be known as<strong> emotional intelligence<\/strong>. It\u2019s not that IQ and technical skills are irrelevant. They do matter, but mainly as \u201cthreshold(n.\u95e8\u69db) capabilities\u201d; that is, they are the entry-level requirements for executive positions. But my research, along with other recent studies, clearly shows that<span style=\"color: #339966\"> emotional intelligence is the sine qua non\uff08\u5fc5\u8981\u6761\u4ef6\uff09 of leadership<\/span>.
